Rape: Court orders AGF, IGP to arraign or free soldier

An Abuja High Court has ordered the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and   Inspector General of Police to arraign the soldier  being detained for alleged rape or release him.

Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf on Wednesday ordered the release of Corporal Nse Edet Eyedip pending the hearing of an application for enforcement of his fundamental rights brought by his counsel Richard Ebie Esq.
Eyedip and three other privates were on January 22 dismissed by the authorities of the Nigerian Army after a board indicted them in the alleged abduction and rape of some women in Abuja.
Those also dismissed and handed over to the Police along with Eyedip are  Army Privates Efosa Ikhu-Omoregbe, Emeziem Uzonna Basil and Ugwu Matthew.
The case has been adjourned to April 24 for hearing.
