After successfully guiding Dolphins FC of port-Harcourt back to the Globacom Premier league, Coach Stanley Eguma has stated that his focus is to win a continental ticket with the Port-Harcourt based club side at the end of the next football season.
Speaking to Trustsports in Lagos, he said that having realized what it entails to play in international competition, he has urged his players to tighten their belts in order to secure the needed ticket.
Similarly, he confirmed that guiding the team out of the lower division was one of the greatest challenges he has faced in his coaching career as he explained that the lower division was made up of very determined and experienced clubs that wanted to return to the premier league by all means.
“We have learnt our lesson while playing in the lower league because it is very tough when playing in that league. Many teams were desperate to disrupt our plan of gaining promotion but with God on our side we were able to scale through. The division is certainly a big contest”, he opined.
Speaking further, he noted that all the necessary facilities and preparation to achieve this objective of picking a continental ticket by his team have been put in place. He remarked that though it might be a bit difficult but at the end they would get continental ticket to justify the confidence reposed in the team by the state government.
Eguma said premier league action is nothing new to the Port-Harcourt soccer outfit because it was in that cadre before the relegation that took it to the lower division in 2007.
