Agu in quiet search for Enyeama, Ejide, Aiyenugba’s replacements

Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu has said in as much as the trio of Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and Dele Aiyenugba are currently doing well for the national team and their respective clubs, he has began a silent search for goalkeepers who will replace them when the time comes.
For quite some time now, the three goalkeepers who are all based abroad have remained the choice of all coaches who have handled the national team with Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide sharing the number one position from time to time.
Speaking to Trustsports, the Eagles goalkeeper trainer disclosed that even though the three goalkeepers were doing very well for the national team, that has not stopped him looking around for those who would replace them in future.
He said he has been combing the Nigerian premier league, the federation cup, CAF Champions league as well as the Confederation cup for goalkeepers.
Agus expressed happiness that in the process, he has been able to identify some talented goalkeepers who have the potentials of taking over from the present goalkeepers.
He noted that in every human activity, there is every need to be proactive just as he stated that it would amount to foolishness for him to wait until the present goalkeepers are set to leave before beginning the search for their replacement.
“The goalkeepers are the best we have presently and they are doing quite well for their clubs and the national team. Although we have no problem with the goalkeeping department, I have been looking around for those who would replace them. I have been combing the premier league, federation cup, CAF Champions league and Confederation Cup for outstanding goalkeepers.
“My happiness is that I have been able to identify some very good keepers and at the appropriate time, they will be invited to come over for trials. We have to be proactive. In as much as Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba are doing well, we don’t have to go to sleep. A time will come when the need for them to be replaced will arise” he observed.
When asked to mention the names of some of the goalkeepers he has been able to identify, he declined saying it would amount to distraction as he said such goalkeepers may lose concentration on their game.
He said he would keep the names of the goalkeepers close to his chest until when it is time to invite them to the national team.
“Like I said the league in the country is blessed with good goalkeepers. Those who have distinguished themselves have been noticed and at the appropriate time, I will do something about them. For now, I don’t want to mention names. It will amount to unnecessary distraction.
