The Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi has dismissed three separate petitions filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and one other case instituted by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) over the conduct of the National Assembly elections in April.
The petitioners had alleged that the elections were not in conformity with the electoral act because of malpractices, multiple thumb printing, snatching of ballot boxes and other irregularities.PDP filed three petitions challenging the election Aliyu Ibrahim Gebi of the CPC in Bauchi, Lawal Yahaya Gumau of the CPC in Toro and Awalu Dahiru Saleh of the CPC in Katagum, while the ACN challenged the election of Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki in to the House of Representatives from Ningi/Warji Federal Constituency.
Delivering the separate judgments yesterday, tribunal chairman Justice Maria Zukogi said the petitioners failed to prove their cases. She said the allegations made by the petitioners were criminal allegations and must be proved beyond reasonable doubt.
Zukogi said in the case of Ningi/Warji constituency where a case of alleged forged examination result was made, investigations by the school was inconclusive.
She dismissed the four petitions accordingly.
