African youth champions Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will train in Faro, Portugal, in readiness for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.
Top team officials informed MTNFootball.com that the Flying Eagles will be the first national team to avail themselves of the training facilities at Faro since the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) picked it as the country’s camping site in Europe.This week, the team began training in Port Harcourt.
Coach John Obuh was hoping to set up training camp in Miami, Florida, United States of America, because of its proximity to World Cup venue Colombia.
Colombia is on a high altitude and it was expected that the Flying Eagles will train at another high altitude site so that they could cope with the physical demands such a geographical situation present.
Nigeria are drawn with Croatia, Saudi Arabia and Guatemala in the first round of the World Cup, which kicks off July 29.
