General Manager of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi and close associate of Super Eagles handler, Coach Amodu Shaibu has said for the football tactician and his players to succeed in their forth coming football engagements, they must be spared some of the pressure that they have been exposed to in recent times.
Speaking to Trustsports, the young football administrator said the Eagles Chief coach and his players have been under undue pressure of recent and if the trend continues unabated, it may affect his confidence and that would put the chances of the team in jeopardy.
Aindir said Amodu is a good coach but there is no human being that will remain calm and achieve positive results even if he or she is unduly criticized and deliberately starved of the needed support.
He said for the coach to succeed with Eagles in Angola and South Africa, Nigerians should rally round him so that even if he is beginning lose self confidence, he would recover in time for the two important championships.
Aindir who worked with Amodu in Sharks FC of Port-Harcourt however said having worked closely with the Edo born football Coach, he is not the lily livered coach that can easily succumb to pressure.
“Amodu is not chicken hearted and so there is no amount of pressure that can wither his confidence but I strongly believe that if Nigerians continue to mount unnecessary pressure on him, it may affect the team’s chances in Angola and South Africa.
“I know that he wants to succeed and he will do everything humanly possible to do well. However, I still believe that the role we as Nigerians can play to make him succeed is to minimize the pressure we continue to mount on him”.
He maintained that it is not possible for the coach to satisfy everyone as he has his own principles and perceptions on issues pertaining to the national team.
Aindir cited calls for inclusion of Home based Eagles in the present national team as some of the unnecessary attempts to distract the coach from concentrating on his assignment.
“Let me cite one example. Most Nigerians are still hammering on the issue of Home based Eagles but they are not ready to look at the time between now and the Nations Cup and the World Cup in South Africa. The time is really too short for Amodu to begin to think of introducing Home based players into the team. This is one pressure that is not good for the coach.
