John Obuh, Golden Eaglets Head Coach, said on Thursday in Abuja that his team would not be complacent following the 5-0 victory over the New Zealand.Obuh said this in a post match briefing shortly after the Golden
Eaglets defeated the New Zealand to advance into the quarter finals stage of the ongoing U-17 World Cup tournament.He said that the team would be better focused as the task ahead would be more challenging.
``The team’s performance depends largely on our focus to defend the title. ``We are not distracted and will sustain the focus as we advance in the tournament.
``Our goals against the New Zealand came naturally and I am satisfied with the score line but will not loose focus by becoming complacent,’’ he said.Obuh admitted that his team played to the gallery, ``but we did so in a positive manner that gave us the desired result.’’
He commended his players for keeping to instructions from the beginning of the tournament and said that he was confident thatthey would keep up the fighting spirit in order to defend the title.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Golden Eaglets took the driving seat in their round-of-16 clash against hopeful New Zealand in Abuja National Stadium.
Eaglets scored three goals in the first half and two in the second half to cruise into the quarter-finals.(NAN)
