A little over two weeks ago, hell was let lose in Baga town, Borno State where tens of innocent lives were reportedly massacred by the Nigerian troops allegedly in retaliation of an attack launched on the Joint Task Force that was in the area to tackle the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency.

A week before then, Garba Deen Muhammad, then editor, Weekly Trust invited me to his office in Kaduna and suggested that I should consider contributing on weekly basis articles for publication on different issues mainly revolving around politics, economics and the sociology of Nigeria.

I think one reason why we have problems in Nigeria today and like it was yesterday is that there seem to be a mix up on the relationship between politics and governance. People in positions of authority have since failed to understand the point of continuation and departure between politics and governance.
