I don't know where all the reviews went on this album, haha. Anyway, this is a very run-of-the-mill pop alternative album. Bastille goes for more of a rock style with distorted guitars and rollicking percussion. In my opinion, this album is kind of messy all around. The band said they wanted this album to be more focused on others and less introspective like Bad Blood was. But really, a lot of the songs on this album are so lyrically distant from each other. You have a song about suicide, songs about our current sociopolitical state, songs about relationships, songs about nostalgia, and songs about God knows what. (I can't tell sometimes!) It's odd and jarring in its lyricism. Musically, a lot of the songs sound extremely similar to each other, which sure, provides cohesion, but I can hardly tell some of the tunes apart. Also, a handful of songs feel like they're building towards something and never quite reach it. (Like "Lethargy," "Blame," or "Glory," just to name a few.) I feel like they never reached their full potential...? All in all, this is a somewhat scattered album lyrically and too similar sonically. Bastille doesn't make any huge statements or leave you with any big revelations to ruminate on. But I mean, it's Bastille, were you expecting much? In terms of their discography, I'd have to say Bad Blood is better than this outing and Doom Days is better than both of them. Wild World isn't bad; there are a bunch of enjoyable tracks on here and some original ideas pop up occasionally. But it's not going to blow your mind. I wouldn't complain for someone to change the music if they put this on in the background or while driving, but it's not something I would deliberately seek out, minus a few tunes. Favorite tracks: "Snakes," "Good Grief," "Shame," "The Anchor," "Campus," "Lethargy" Meh tracks: "Blame," "Fake It," "The Currents," "Send Them Off!," "Warmth," "Power," "Winter of Our Youth," "Way Beyond" Least favorite tracks: "Two Evils," "Four Walls," "Glory," "An Act of Kindness," "Oil on Water," "Final Hour"
